Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers: Revenge of the FallenMichael Bay’s giant robot spectacle has earned a cumulative total of $125.9 million in just three days, pulling in a whopping $60.6 million on its first day alone and shattering every record in its path. It beat out “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” for biggest Wednesday gross ever (”Harry” only did $44.2 million) and comes in second for biggest debut ever, behind “The Dark Knight” and its $67.2 million.
The biggest of the new markets was China, which chipped in $21.9 million, a record for an English-language film, the Viacom Inc-owned studio said. Other notable openings included South Korea ($14.9 million), Australia ($13 million) and Russia ($11.8 million). In those markets, the film surpassed its 2007 predecessor in local currency terms, Paramount said.
The first "Transformers" earned $708 million worldwide in 2007, the fifth-biggest film of the year. It ranked at No. 3 in North America with sales of $319 million. The new film should pass that tally next week, with business boosted by the July 4 Independence Day holiday in the United States.

10 Things That Made Michael Unlike The Rest of Us

Michael Jackson
thefablife
Michael Jackson truly was a man, a myth and a legend — often his personal life overshadowed his talent, but he had a vulnerability about him that made us forget the controversy and get lost in the music and that’s the legacy most will remember him for. It’s just that he was so mysterious, so unlike us. (He had the power to light up sidewalks! Did that have something to do with the oxygen chamber he slept in??) We’ve found some of the best and worst of Michael’s pop culture moments — the good, the bad and the on-fire — because as much as we remember him for the music, he was always doing something above and beyond the norm and the world was constantly fascinated.

Jackson music, videos quickly sell out after death

Michael JacksonBy RACHEL METZ, AP Technology
NEW YORK -Michael Jackson's death has led to skyrocketing sales of his music and videos, with major retailers selling out of products that have regained immense popularity overnight.
Bill Carr, Amazon.com Inc.'s vice president for music and video, said Friday that once the world learned that the pop icon had died Thursday, the Web site sold out within minutes all CDs by Michael Jackson and by the Jackson 5 — the group Jackson and his four older brothers formed out of Gary, Ind., in the late '60s.
Jackson's albums accounted for all 10 of Amazon's "Bestsellers in Music" list Friday, with the 25th anniversary edition of the celebrated "Thriller" album taking the top spot.
Barnes and Noble Inc.'s Web site and retail stores also sold out most Jackson CDs, DVDs and books, and its 10 bestselling CDs were Jackson titles as well. Borders Group Inc.'s Web site sold out almost everything related to the star; albums also sold out at some of the book seller's retail locations, including its New York stores.
"We saw something similar when (Luciano) Pavarotti and (Frank) Sinatra passed, but from the initial read on this it seems to be a faster rush," Borders spokeswoman Mary Davis said. "People seem to be shocked by the news and want to go out and rediscover his music."

By Larry Carroll, mtv.com
BEVERLY HILLS, California — Do you spend your evenings sleeping under Bumblebee bedsheets? Have you ever gone into a drive-thru wearing an Optimus Prime mask? Well, it might finally be time for some new toys.
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" storms into theaters June 24, bringing with it a slew of brand-new robots in disguise. Recently, we caught up with the human stars of the movie — and got the scoop on their favorite freewheeling co-stars.
Megan Fox on Devastator - "Devastator is a really cool robot because he's a Constructicon, and we didn't have a Constructicon in the last one," explained the actress, who plays sexy Mikaela Barnes in the film series. "He's just massive. And the damage he does, it's mind-blowing to watch it. Some of the coolest action sequences and set pieces I've ever seen in a movie is with Devastator."
